Indian Head massage - For ADHD and More

As a massage therapist I love my job, I love meeting new and interesting people but I also love to see the benefit's that massage has on those that come to see me. I offer a range of treatment's but find the most popular are Indian Head massage and an Holistic Back Massage. Both treatments are as unique as each other and both have some amazing benefit's for those who are affected by ADHD and Autism but my favourite is still the Indian Head massage.
So Indian head massage?

when my daughter was diagnosed with ADD (ADHD) my world bottomed out. I was at that time a stay at home mum due to the hospital appointments I wasn't reliable enough to be employed. I started to research and learn about my Childs disabilities and its in one of these research sessions that my passion for Indian head massage began.
Indian head massage for me is such a versatile, adaptive massage therapy and I always find it a joy when someone books this treatment. After 3 years of working with my own children and adapting this wonderful treatment I have found the benefit's to include:
  • Aides circulation - the gentle almost rhythmic moves encourage better circulation
  • Aides Headaches - there are many reasons why we may have a headache, Indian head massage can help unlock tension in the neck and shoulder's helping to ease one of the most common causes of headaches.
  • Aides Lymphatic drainage - Indian head massage can aide the body in naturally improving the lymph flow helping the body to flush out toxins.
  • Relaxation - Indian head massage is a gentle seated massage helping to relax the mind and the body
  • Positive touch - human's rely on the physical and psychological bonds of those around them, sadly in todays society there has been much to discourage any form of touch. This is especially seen in schools and nurseries where children grow up sensing and being told that touch is wrong. Positive touch can bring comfort to any person and is especially true of those with disabilities. Children with ADHD have many symptoms for which an Indian head massage can be beneficial. I have found that by using Indian head massage the child is better able to interact with those around them.
  • Soothes aches and pain's - while an Indian head massage is not as invasive as say the Holistic massage Indian head massage can still aide those who are suffering with aches and pains as well as stiffness in the neck. using gentle movement's and massage techniques such as effleurage and ironing down muscles are soothed and the massage can aide the release of endorphins (feel good hormones) thus reducing pain, inflammation and swellings.
  • Strong and healthy hair - Indian head massage has been shown to be extremely good for the health and condition of the hair. for a child with ADHD having the scalp massaged seems to be the best part. Massage of the scalp releases tension but can also encourage new hair growth as well as encouraging the blood flow to the hair strands.
  • Seated massage - being a seated massage means that in effect Indian head massage can be for anyone, anywhere. An individual with a disability can still access an Indian head massage. this is what I love about this treatment. the adaptiveness of the treatment literally means that it can be accessed by nearly all from the young to the elderly and everyone in between
  • Benefits for ADHD / Autism - Indian Head massage can really benefit those who find it difficult to interact with others, find it difficult to stop and relax. The gentle massage can encourage deeper breathing which can help release tension and I have also found Indian Head massage to have calming effects on both the mind and body reducing physical Tick's, reducing hyperactivity as well as aiding better sleep and concentration
